2nd September
This morning we woke up still stressed from the night before, other things were starting to getting to us too. Our laptop was still broken and it seemed like it maybe harder than we initially thought to find work especially as Dan doesn’t have a visa. Although we still have enough money to survive for the rest of our trip we don’t have enough to go on tours, like whale watching and Ayres rock, so the pressure was starting to get to us!
Today we were due to go to Becky’s (my auntie by marriage a few times over), we have never met her before so we were a little nervous. We arrived by 9.30am and were pleased to be greeted with a nice cup of tea. It was a bit embarrassing as we had not had a shower for a few days so we weren’t looking our best and we had hoped to shower the night before so we would at least look presentable, unfortunately we hadn’t found one so we lived up to the term “smelly travelers”!!
Becky kindly offered us a shower and washed some of our clothes, which we were very thankful for! It was nice to be able to relax on a sofa for a change, it can get a bit tiresome being in the van as it is difficult to relax.
We spent the day with Becky then headed off to the shops to find an external DVD player in hope that we could fix the lap top by re-booting the system with the back up DVD. We found one at a cost but managed to get the computer sorted, this was a great relief things were beginning to look up!!
Things got even better when I got a phone call from the manager of Aquarius backpackers hostel in Southport. From the sound of the phone call we pretty much had the job, we arranged to meet her the following day to finalize a few things.
We had dinner with Becky and her family and ended up staying for the night, both Dan and I were beginning to feel the pressure release some what.
Overall we had had a great day, we got on well with Becky and it was nice to make some new friends not to mention the prospect of a job!
