10th September
After a free breakfast in the youth hostel we set off south to Tin Can Bay as they have wild estuarine dolphins which come in daily for some food. By the time we arrived it was 11am and we were too late, it was a beautiful spot so we had a coffee and cake at the harbour side café. We decided that instead of heading further south today we would stay in the area so we could come first thing to see the dolphins.
To make the most of the rest of the day we went 30kms down the road to Rainbow beach and the Carlos sand blow, a sand dune which gave fantastic views of the valley behind and the sea and islands in front. We had a great steak sandwich for lunch and had a wonder around the shops, Dan bought some new sandals and I got a new bag.
We got back to Tin Can bay around 4pm, we went to the shops to get some chicken for diner and had another close call with the police, Rachel was just getting into the boot of the van as they pulled up next to us. Both Rachel and i disappeared into the shop until they had gone. After that we walked back down to the next shop we were going to as we were worried that we would get caught and fined!!
That evening we stayed in a cabin on the local caravan park, we used the time to sort through and swap picture as tomorrow we would be parting ways again.
