We left sihanoukville at 8am, we were told we should get to Koh Chang in 7hrs though we knew better by now!! It actually took 12hrs but this has been our best boarder crossing so far!!

By the time we got to Bang Bao a town at the southern tip of Koh Chang it was 8.30pm. We were trying to find somewhere cheap to stay but we weren't having much luck. Thailand is more westernized and the price of accommodation reflects that. Luckily a very nice Thai lady came to our rescue and we got the cheapest place we could find. At $10 we only got a room with fan, in phnom phen we had air-con, t.v, en suite and hot water for the same price!!

3rd May

We did not sleep well!! The mattress on the bed was about as soft as a plank of wood and the weather in the night had been awful. The wind was strong and the rain had not stopped, some of it had started to come into our wooden shack!! I got up and headed for the internet cafe, we were going to have our 5 star hotel a night early!!

I left the internet cafe frustrated, i hadn't had any replies from the hotels i had emailed so instead i made a few phone calls. Still no joy, i went back to the room feeling depressed!!

We got up and headed back into town equipped with our waterproof ponchos. We went back on the net where i made a last attempt to the most expensive hotel on the island!!

The rest of the day was spent sheltering in the common room of the guest house, it was a very dull day!!

In the evening i told Dan that we were going to a 5 star hotel in the morning. I couldn't wait any longer as i felt we needed cheering up!! We went for dinner feeling a lot brighter!!
