2 May 2007 - Days 102, 103, 104, 105, 106 & 107 - MADelaide

We left Port Wakefield but only after a dodgy sausage roll (dave didn't finish his and it stayed in the car for days - thats how messy the van was) If i remember correctly i think dave did all the driving on this leg, one of those things which i realised just as we were outside the city of Adelaide and something i wasn't going to tell him either because i was lazy and couldn't be bothered to drive. Anyways we were just on the outskirts of town and pulled up at a red light, dave tried to drop the gear into first to pull off and alas couldn't. I thought he was either being lame or taking the piss and when i tried it turned out we actually couldn't get the car into first. Dave pulled over and with some force we managed to get it into second. After driving in second (in the middle of the city, imagine how that was - slow and lots of revs) we decided to take a chance of wacking it into third gear. Dave doing the clutch and with some force me pulling it into third - didn't sound healthy and to be honest we were probably making it worse. Anyways we managed to get into the city and find somewhere to park and call the Wicked camper people for advice. After a tedious conversation between them and the RAAC (cost me loads on my mob bill) and an hour wait this old guy turned up in his truck, looked at it for about ten mins and gave us the verdict of "yep your gear box is fucked" mmm no shit. Turned out there was nothing we could do and it would have to go to be repaired. Unfortunately it was a sunday though and it would have to wait for another day before we could get it in for a service. The hostel we'd decided to stay in, Backpacker Oz as recommended by the two dutch guys we played vollyball with, was round the corner fortunately and we had to drive it off in First (you could get it into first if the engine was off) round to it - i also drove off with my door open unbeknownst (thats spelt wrong ey) to me and it opened when i took the corner. Bit of a stressful morning really. Turned out we couldn't check into our room until 12:30 and we spent the time playing pool (different ey?) with this guy called Ashley who seemed like a stand up chap before checking in. The rest of the afternoon was spent in the city being very gay and going shopping (for a pair of jeans and we were only there for about an hour). That evening myself and dave went to the cinema to see 300 - it was mental. When we got back we were greated by Ashley playing pool with these three lads - Ash, Iain and Matt. We set up a mini doubles comp which myself and dave started strongly in, holding the table for a while before we let it slip out of our grasps! Eventful day, but not that great.

The following day i did nothing whatsoever... i'm not sure i'm even going to bother writing much other than a few lines because i slept, did washing, went on the net etc. I was exhausted after the road trip and needed a day off. I think dave went to town with the other lads but didn't do anything interesting either. That evening however us 6 lads and this american lad - cappie for arguements sake (he was wearing a cap, can't remember his name) played Killer, with the winner having to buy two bottles - one beer and one cidar and downing them. More of a punishment than prize, iain was a tad sick after his one (bloatedness apparently) i managed to get to the final 2 three times but never won - i wonder why? (seriously, it was because i wasn't as good) and that was about it for this evenings entertainment. Oh and we took the car for a service that day as well & got it back later that evening - nothing fun.

Today myself and dave decided that after the success of 300, we'd go to the cinema again - this time to watch the might Hot Fuzz. Both fans of the hilariious yarn - Shaun of the Dead, we figured this would be equally as funny. Killing time before the curtains opened i purchased some new trainers and we killed some terrorists on Time Crisis 3 before watching the flick. Not bad/Not Great/not as good as shaun of the dead though funny in parts - it was more interesting looking at the aussies struggle to get some of the gags. I was satisfied however that my day hadn't been wasted. Back at the hostel we did the same thing we did every night - play pool. Some of the guys, ash, ashley and iain decided that they were going to go to the cinema to check out 300 themselves - they were joined by these girls in their room - jo and gemma and this canadian elephant woman from ours - courtney! i was glad i wasnt going. Myself, dave and matt spent the evening drinking beer and watching the Usual suspects - i had tummy ache today (i think i ate too much popcorn)

One thing that had been decided on the previous day however was the playing, at some point of the game of Centurion. Now for those not familiar with this game i will explain the basis of it. Though it has many variations, the basic aim is to drink 100 shots in 100 minutes, basically a shot a minute. Where games differ is whether or not your allowed to piss or be sick. We decied that you were allowed one piss card to be used at any point in the game and that if you were sick you were out. We'd decided that tonight would be the night for such festivities and set the clock at half 5 start so we'd be back in time for the free bbq and the killer pool comp. Dave went off today to see some family friends and told us he'd be back in time for it. We spent the day lulling around and prepping ourselves. As you can tell, adelaide doesn't offer much at all - its a nice city to look at but theres nothing to do - hence the lack of photos of anything there. The whole time was spent living for the evening or just chilling out in the hostel. Anyways half 5 game and no sign of dave, half 6 came and no sign of dave, half 7 and no sign of dave. It was now time for the bbq and our plans had been thwarted by daves neglectfullness of the tournement. In honour we couldn't do it without him and i was getting bad looks and comments from people because he didn't turn up and because for some reason i didn't have his mob number to contact him. Basically we had no idea if he was going to turn up or not. I decided that he wasn't going to turn up and had probably had a drink and stayed at the family friends house. I thus decided to have a beer of my own and enjoy the bbq. anyways the killer pool comp came round soon after the food and though i started well i was out in the last ten - plus i kept stiching iain up who was behind me in order by mistake. Needless to say none of us lads one though ashley got to the last three. After a bit longer we all decided that it was unlikely that dave would turn up and therefore decided to take the beers we'd bought for centurions and go down to the park for a throwback 16 year old street drink. Turned out to be a really good evening, us lads joined by Jo and Gemma we managed to make some sort of beer bottle circle and it was generally a good craic. We also saw a possum.

The next day i felt like shit. Dave walzed in at half 12 midday like he had no idea what had happened and we gave him some shit for a while because of his absence. We then all went for chinese down chinatown and i ordered something which i have no idea about - tasted ok though - guess i'll have to get used to it for asia. After this i went on the internet for a while and went back to bed. When i woke up i joined everyone downstairs watching the departed and planning, yep, centurions for that evening. my prep for it was seriously lacking i.e. the day before i'd drunk loads of water and eating filling foods, all i'd had today was some chinese, also i had a killer hangover. Anyways it was settled on for that evening, same place as the night before. Ashley who was originally involved dropped out because he was under his girlfriends thumb and she wasn't happy that he went out the evening before and got smashed when she was laying in bed ill.

Sooo centurions - i won't go into massive detail about it because most of it was just drinking shots of beer. To say it was epic though would be to understate it. Basically you had five lads, each with their own teqnique to winning. Mine was basically top button of jeans undone and standing. Dave decided to sit the whole time, Iain to lay for a while. Anyways Matt had done it before and he reconed we'd do well to get past 60. His big mate had got to about 67 before puking. I had no idea how i'd handle it. 35ml shots of Carlton beer, about 5 %. So we got going 10, 20, 30, they were speeding up, the minutes getting shorter and the need to piss growing. The topic of piss was one which dominated however besides that everyone was looking pretty good, 40, 50, 60. We'd reached the expected stage and despite needing to piss badly (iain went at this point) we were fine. 70, 80. i pissed - thank goodness, dave went shortly afterwards. 90 we were talking about what must have gone wrong, surely there was no way we could all do 90. Matt wasn't happy with the calculations either, according to him we should be nearly finishing the beer but we had a fair amount left, 100 - centurions! we decided to continue to make sure it was all good, 110, 115, ash began bragging about he hadn't done a piss yet and then seconds later erupted into a ball of beer sick! huzzah -we cheered and celebrated. He was a centurion but he'd lost out of us all and his forfeit was a shot of this horrible spicy sauce - he was sick again. We continued drinking the rest of the beer, reconning we did about 120 shots each - not bad ey? Next stop - town! During the game it had arrisen that dave hadn't been to a strip club before we decided in our drunken states that this was an essential man thing and we'd have to take him. The best bit of it, besides the girls of course, being when a girl went over to dave to chat to him and he began trying to fob her questions off.

Girl "so where are u from"

Dave "well london, but gregs from jersey"

Me "don't bring me into this dave"

Ash " fucking hell, heres 50 dollars love, give him a dance"

Dave went for his dance, i won't go into details but the rest of us may or may not have got dances as well and the girl i may or may not have got a dance of may or may not have been fit as hell and very umm how to put it, affectionate - though i may have dreamt the lot because i was wasted. We then went to a club called sugar - it was good but i got swindled out of drinks by this exceptionally fit australian girl who i thought i was in with - as i say i was very drunk.

We were meant to leave today but we didn't! after umming and ahhing about it for ages the fact that we were both obviously over the limit and the fact that i scratched the van trying to move it earlier on in the day meant that if we drove we'd definately crash and probably die. Anyways all we did today was watch films and plan the friday night out at a place called the Church. Basically, after a few drinks trying to get over the hangover which plagued me, the night turned into another epic one. Though not as good as the previous evening which for me was probably up there with the best night out i've EVER had - if i'd not been swindled and the bitch had kept her word (i wont go into it) it would have been the best! Cracking fun saw ash on stage trying to win a dance competition on stage which involved a whistle deciding the best way to win would be to sod the whistle and grind up again this fit girl next to him. Apparently he came out with some epic lines to this girl examples being "if we get off with each other we'll deff win" & "if you let me touch your tits we'll win" classic.
