It took 10 long hours to reach Koh Lanta from Langkawi. We were told it would take 5 but we had several hours "waiting" time while they changed us from one bus to another.
Koh Lanta is made up of 2 islands, the north and the south. We had planned to stay on the south west side of the south island at a bay called Kantiang. It is supposed to be the best beach on the island's and it certainley lived up to expectation. There were 3 resort's at Kantiang Bay and we stayed at the cheapest, it was only 600 baht a night for aircon.
Our first 3 days on Koh Lanta were cloudy but after that it was scorching!!
We hired a bike and visited a couple of other beaches including Waterfall Bay and we visited the island's resident elephants. We stopped off at a couple of view point's overlooking our Bay.
There was not alot to do where we were staying and our day's were spent on the beach and swimming in the sea. The wave's were the biggest we had seen in Thailand and Karl was enjoying some wave surfing!!
Our resort had a wicked bar called "Why Not?" We chilled out there everynight and had a really good laugh with the staff. Ali Baba as he was known worked in the bar and was partial to a few shot's of Sangsom everynight, if he offered you couldn't refuse.....he would just say "Why not?"!! You just had to neck the shot's, smile and shudder!!
Kantiang Bay was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay and our final day's on the beach. The end is now near our final destination draw's closer....... Bangkok.
