6 June 2008 - chumpon and the boat trip to koh tao.

28th may

We had decided to leave ranong today and get to chumpon so we could get the night boat over to koh tao. There wasn't really much in this town so we didn't feel like we'd be missing out on anything!

Chumpon was only 2 hours away and the night boat didn't leave till 11pm so we didn't want to get there to early as we'd have time to kill so we stayed at the guest house till check out which was 12pm.

We got the mini bus at 1pm and by 3pm we were there..only 8 hours to waste. We had a few cups of tea and surfed the net a bit. Then after diner we wandered around the town.

10pm and the taxi picked us up and took us to the boat. It was a small boat with a room of mattresses on each wall with top and bottom bunks. Although it didn't look very inviting it certainly did the job to get our head down for a few hours.

29th May

5.30am we arrived in koh tao. We weren't really to sure which part to head to so we got a coffee from the 7/11 and thought about it. We got talking to a guy who had been on the boat, he had visited the island before so he gave us a rough over view and we decided to go to the south. It was a quieter part of the island so we thought we'd give it a go first.

We got a taxi and everything was still closed, by 7.45am we had found a nice room for 400 baht which was ok. I was feeling pretty rough so we had a few hours sleep before going to explore.

We got up about 11.30 and i was still feeling rough only now i felt faint and sick as well so we went off to get some food. After brunch we headed to the beach, it was scorching hot and i still didn't feel good, next thing i was trowing up at the side of the road..very embarrassing as people kept coming passed!! Needless to say we went back to the room where i spent the rest of the day being sick and generally feeling awful!! We just hoped it was a 24hr bug!
