25 June 2008 - Koh Phi Phi to Hat Yai

Dan and i had decided to catch the ferry at 9am so that we could try to get a local bus to Hat yai. The ferry crossing was pleasant today as the weather had picked up a bit.

When we arrived at the port we found it impossible to get to the local bus station. The Thai's do not like you getting public transport, so in the end we booked a tour bus as it wasn't worth getting a taxi to the local bus station. As a result we had to wait 5hrs at the port for the tour bus.

After 5 grueling hour doing not a lot we got on the mini bus for a 4hr journey. The bus driver kindly dropped us at the guest house in the city. By this time it was 10pm so we were hopeful that the guest house would have a room. To our delight they had a spare room for 200 baht (3GBP) and it was OK, apart from a squat toilet!!

Exhausted we went to bed, ready to explore in the morning.
