15 June 2008 - A day trip with new friends

5th June

We got up and went to the restaurant for breakfast. We hadn't been there long when anwar and Kate came and joined us. They had planned to leave today but instead decided to go to another part of the island for the day and asked if we wanted to join them.

After breakfast we got some things together and set off with Jo and Michael too. We flagged a truck and squeezed on, by English standards there was not enough room for the six of us but out in south east Asia anything goes and it seems the more the better!!

After a squashed and sticky 40min ride we reached Lamai beach, we were hoping we could do some snorkeling here.

After finding some coral just off the beach we set our stuff on the beach. Although Dan and i have yet to purchase snorkeling gear Michael and Jo lent us theres whilst they got some food.

There were plenty of fish to look at and although the visibility want the best it was still enjoyable. We spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach until the sun started to set so we headed off to find someone to get a drink.

We decided to get back to Mae Nam at about 8pm as we weren't sure how late the buses left. By this time we were hungry so we found a nice restaurant before heading back to the bungalows.
