Hello all, it has been a while and we are currently settling into life down under.
We are fine, we are currently house hunting frantically. It is harder than we thought over here! It is different application process to home and the rental market is crazy. If a property is available you have to go to an open inspection, which is a time and date that the agency set and then whoever wants to view it has to then all together. Then you put in an application (you cant put one in before you view!) and anyone can put one in on the same property and THEN the owner of the house decides who he/she wants to rent the property!!! So it is like a bloody lottery!
Went to see one today that has a pool which would be nice to get and is $285 a week for a three bedroom one. Massive garden and decking area - but doubt we will get it as most of the applications went in at the beginning of the week and ours went in today.... We have some more to view tomorrow and Saturday.
Along with that we are looking for a second car for me... have found a ka for a good price but haven't had time to view it as we are spending all our spare time looking for a bloody house!!!!
Also have a new job, working in an accounts department for a house building company... it is with the agency and for about 6-8 weeks... but nice to be back in the office -) and i NEVER thought i would say that!!!
So in a nut shell that is us! House and car hunting is taking over our lives, we are also looking for second hand furniture to furnish this house with if and when we finally get it!
Life is good though, the sun is shining, it was 34 yesterday!!! So hot it would be handy if we get that house with the pool - albeit a small one but still good to say you have a pool in your garden eh 8-D!
We went diving for the first time last Sunday which was brilliant, re-did all our skills and learned to dive in colder water (it was freezing!!). Saw a sea horse and sea dragons amongst other fish... hopefully going to go again soon... Did it in a place called Portsea which is on the hook of the bay and a lovely place, chilled out with a lovely beach and only about 40 mins away from us! We sat in the hotel pub garden afterward with the view of the sea and some people just singing and playing on some instruments "jamming"... Brilliant way to spend a Sunday afternoon, we nearly talked ourselves into not going to work on the Monday and booking into the hotel....
Sinking in a bit more that we are living here now, getting into a routine and trying to fit the gym in too but hard with one car and looking at houses. Lee has found a footie team to play for on Thurs nights so that is his weekly exercise to burn off all the food Jill is feeding him :-).
Rod Stewart is here next week so we are going to try and get some tickets to see him!!! :-). Not to mention all the girls he works with - they are all trying to feed him up for some reason!
Hopefully next entry will be that we have found a house or rather been lucky enough to be able to rent one!
Take care and love to all. Kate and Lee - Down Under xxxxxxx
