27 June 2008 - Long beach

18th June

We had breakfast with the group we met last night. The sun was shining and it looked like a perfect day to laze around on the beach!!

There are two perhentian islands, kecil is the smaller of the two and is the one we are staying on. It has a number of different beaches we were advised to head to Coral bay as its not as busy as long beach but not as secluded as D'lagoon. The good thing about coral bay is that long beach is only a 5min trek trough the island so you get the best of both beaches.

Today we all went over to long beach. It was very hot so we found some free parasols and settled down for some reading. The water on this side of the island is much better for swimming in as there is only sand underfoot and it gets deeper quicker. The water is beautiful, crystal clear and today it looked like glass.

I also noticed some birds that looked like humming birds although I'm not entirely sure. They were small with a green/black two tone but with a bright pink breast and a long thin beak.

That eve we watched the sun setting and had dinner by ourselves before watching a storm begin.
