OK so i don't know what happened to the last journal entry (9th march), most annoying as for some reason it didn't save and we spent at least an hr writing it!!
So we had one day in dalat before we started our three day tour of the highlands on the back of motorbikes!!
We had seen in the local map and guide book that there was a train in dalat so we decided we would venture into the countryside on the train. After an hrs walk we arrived at the station, we went to book our tickets only to be told that you had to have a minimum of 5 people in order to get a ride!
Unimpressed we took another look at the map to see what else we could do with our day. There was a cable car through some of the highland so we decided to head there instead.
After another hr of walking we arrived at the top of a huge hill where the cable car was situated. Only to find the place deserted..great!! After a few minutes we found someone who worked there, they were shut for lunch until 1.30pm! This meant we had at least an hr to kill before we could get on the ride so we headed back down the hill to find some lunch.
When we finally got on the cable car it was well worth the ride. However it did scare me a bit as it hurtled out of the building at some speed!! Luckily it slowed right down so we could enjoy the birds eye view of the highlands....it was beautiful.
On the other side there was a pagoda (temple) situated in beautifully kept gardens surrounded by mountains and a lake, again the scenery was breath taking.
The rest of the afternoon we decided to head to the camly waterfall, which took us at least 1 1/2hrs walk. When we got there it was a huge disappointment as they had commercialized what would have been a natural beauty. Instead they made it very ugly and fairground like, really tacky. They even had horses roaming around the place that looked malnourished and very sad. We decided to leave the place promptly!!
I'm going to save these entries separately as i don't want to lose it all again!!!
