16 February 2009 - (3) Our last day of our trip!!

5th February

Our last morning in Vancouver was spent packing our backpacks and throwing out some of the old tatty clothing that have made the trip with us! As always we were a little late checking out but they didn’t seem to mind.

Our flights weren’t until 8.45pm so we had the whole day to wait out so we wasted a good few hours on the internet. We had lunch just down the road at a retro café called the Templeton. We had been in here a few day earlier and we liked the food and the atmosphere, even better were the milkshakes, chocolate caramel sweets blended up with lots of ice cream…another thing to go onto the waistline!!

Feeling satisfied from lunch we walked around the shops for a while, Dan ended up buying a new pair of shoes by which time we had to get back to the hostel to pick up our bags and catch the bus to the airport.

We arrived with plenty of time to spare, the check in desks were already open so we lined up ready to make our last flight. It was quite a bizarre feeling knowing our next destination, there was no wondering what we would find when we got there…the people, the food, the weather and the architecture would all be familiar!

We got through all the checks and sat down for a cup of coffee as we waited to board, I was getting quite excited now with the prospect of seeing my friends and family in the next 24hrs.

Finally we boarded and got sat in our seats, I was hoping to sleep on the flight but unfortunately the guy sitting next to me took up half my seat as well so it wasn’t the most comfortable 9 hrs of my life!!
