9th September
Today was our last day on the island, so after a bacon and egg sarnie for breakfast we set off back down the beach. The island is pretty big it took us a good few hour to reach Eli creek which is the biggest fresh water creek on the island. It is crystal clear and on a hot sunny day it would be great to get carried down stream and cool off, we just walked down as the water was a bit too cold!
We drove past the wreck again which was swarmed with tourist luckily we had got our pictures already. We spent most of the day driving but stopped off at lake Birrabeem and played a Vietnamese game (not sure what its called) which you kick or hit a shuttlecock with a spring on the end off it, the aim of the game being not to let it drop on the floor. We weren’t very good but it was good fun trying!
By 4pm we had driven back to the port and waited for the ferry to arrive. The ferry took 30mins then we were back on the mainland. After filling Brenda up with diesel we took her back and got Rene (our van) back, the first thing we did was check the meat in the cool box, the chicken had definitely gone off as the stench was pretty bad but luckily the beef steaks seemed edible!!
That night we stayed at the youth hostel again, we planned our itinerary for the next day and after dinner went to bed, we planned on having a bit of a lay in in the morning as the last few mornings had been early ones.
