14 April 2008 - more aus

hi again,

we are still in australia but have moved on from adelaide now.

we hired a 'wicked' campervan in adelaide and drove for a week down to melbourne. the van had quality cartoons on it, we looked good... ?

we stopped off along the way at a couple of small villages... in the middle of nowhere, and then we drove down the great ocean road. we saw the 12 apostles, london bridge and a blowhole (all rock formations on the coast) which were pretty cool, and we went to torquay which is like the surf capital of... somewhere?! unfortunately we had to drive through a massive storm with hundred kmph winds which was pretty scary! one woman died from it in melbourne?!

but when we arrived in melbourne the weather was a bit nicer. we stayed in melbourne for about 5 days and did loads! we went to melbourne museum, the victoria markets, chinatown (a street with 10 chinese takeaways?!), an exhibition on computer games..... PACMAN and SPACE INVADERS!!!, saw the huge casino, telstra dome, harbour, and melbourne jail. we also went to the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) and watched an aussie rules football match. the stadium was absolutely huge and there was 76000 people there. was a great atmosphere, the aussies get well lairy!!

we then got a bus (13 hours, whoop) up to sydney and have now been here about a week. we are in a hostel right in the centre of town so quite close to everything. we have seen the opera house and walked over the harbour bridge. also been to darling harbour, the imax 3D theatre (6 storeys high?!) , wildlife park, chinese gardens, museum, bondi beach, and had some good nights out in kings cross and manly. its a quality city, just a shame its so expensive! off on wednesday up to byron bay and then onto brisbane, so should be getting hotter agian!!
