I'm not sure if it's getting on and off 4 planes in the same number of days, switching from summer to spring weather, or 35 hours of airplane air but I have not been the usual box of fluffy ducks since I headed South. In Melbourne I was upgraded to a room with a view of the sea and a jacuzzi bath which helped cheer up a body fighting all the evil Aussie lurgies which finally snapped after a full day in APV air conditioning on Monday.
By Friday I was over the worst of it. it's rotten being ill when you are away and somewhere exciting :-(
Wednesday was a kiddies birthday party for my godson's cousin, and last night was Japanese food (never get enough of it!) with James and Tania and their brood. Lots of faces not seen for a number of years. Faces once seen on a daily basis, so Melbourne has been a kind of homecoming.
The weekend promises little work and more catchup with places and faces. Hopefully I'll get a chance to include some snaps : )
Yay - Saturday started with a loooong walk along St Kilda beach. Walking in sand is hard! And just what I needed. Everyone down near the water where I was had dogs and they were all very friendly - greeting me as I wandered past. I had started running - because it was rather nippy for bare arms and legs - but I warmed up (and ran out of puff) quickly enough so I just enjoyed the morning.
Later on that morning I met up with Maggie and we took Georgia to a children's birthday party (2nd this week today could make 3!) in a park. They had set up chairs and rugs and spread covers over all the picnic tables. There were lots of yummy things like toffee apples and birthday cake. But Maggie and I headed for a more grownup lunch instead. As Phil had the car we walked everywhere. Not small distances I can assure you! We called in at the kids school. I tried out Georgia's monkey bars (see photo)
Later that afternoon James and Tania came over for a BBQ and we worked out that Chianti really does have exactly the same colour hair as me as she snuggled into my arms at the dinner table counting buttons on my new (tx Maggie!) cardie.
Today - shopping/hair/walks.....who knows. I'm up with the sun and the whole day stretches before me.....
