I was lucky enough to spend a little over a week in Kunming. I went there as part of a Green and Gold army tour, to watch the World Cup Qualifying match between China and Australia.
Kunming is an amazing place, and worth a look if your ever in the area.

The Hump - seems to be the main backpackers hangout. close to the city centre (across the street), close to the nightclubs!.
Kundu Night Market - Didn't see it during the day, but at night it's a nightclub bonanza!
Bird and Flu (Flower) Market - Since the outbreak of the bird flu, this market hasn't been the same apparently, but non-the-less, i wasted half a day here just browsing the various wares on offer.. including algae, grass and crickets!!
The Revolting (Revolving) Restaurant - Atop the Jin Jiang Hotel, 2 blocks from the Train Station. Gives you a good arial view of the city.
