From an internet cafe between doing loads of laundry in a foreign city, it´s difficult to adequately summarize a great first week in a fantastic place, but here goes. So far, I´ve done a lot of the recommended tourist attractions (La Recoleta cemetery, El Caminito neighborhood, a tango show at El Querandi, eaten tons of steak and drinking great wine, met a beautiful Argentinian woman, etc). However, just walking the city, by day or night, is exciting and fun, and reminds me of walking around Madrid when I lived there in 2001. I meet cool people everywhere, and everyone seems friendly and welcoming. I spent one evening with an Argentinian friend I met online, Andrea, and her friend Mery, and we ate, drank, and went to a few bars in Palermo Soho, a popular and increasingly upscale neighborhood. I went out bar hopping and clubbing with a girl named Natalia and her sister the next night (Saturday). I met some nice Mexican ladies and their nephew last night at the tango show. The weather has been great (a bit chilly but not as cold as other people said before I came down). I´m really excited about tomorrow´s trip down to Calafate, where the glaciers are!
