Well i had my initiation ceremony in Brazil by getting mugged on the way to Santa Teresa by the crappest mugger ever. Kellyann managed to push him over which was pretty funny as he went ar*e over t*ts.
The scene of the crime was Lapa at 3pm, cool place to go out but very dodgy. We were walking past the aquaduct white arches taking pictures. Stupid in hindsight but we let our guard down. The tourist police were parked up about 300 yards away and when i told them what happened the guy turned his back and walked away so I went after him and his response was ´complicado´!!! no sh*t sherlock!
Noone was hurt and after a few expletives later we merrily made our way through the getto to Santa Teresa which was really pretty and sunny. There was a live Samba band playing outside as it was mothers day here in Brazil. Nice atmosphere.
In the night time we went to a street party in Baxio Gavea pronounced BAJIU GABEA. Really nice place to go out for a bit to eat and a few drinks with mostly locals.
We went out accompanied by 3 guys from the hostel. One guy had a guitar so after the bars I took a taxi back to the hostel with the lads and we played the guitar and sang until the early hours whilst Becky and Kellyann bumped into an aquaintance of Becky´s and stayed out with them. Another story of running down the street to escape being held hostage was shared first thing this morning. Much preferred my ending of the night.
So the moral of the story is to never accept sweets or lifts of Favela gang warlords!!!
