9 January 2009 - (1) Darling harbour and buyers for the van!!

Today we went into Sydney with Sarah and Brian, we didn’t have anyone viewing the van til the afternoon and it was about time we actually went into Sydney. First stop was Darling harbour, we had a walk round and stopped for coffee and cake by which time Dan and I had to get the bus back to Bondi, whilst Sarah and Brian continued to explore the city.

The French girls arrived at 2pm and had a look and drove the van, they wanted it straight away, I was a little concerned as they didn’t really ask much about the requirements needed when registering it, over here in Australia it is quite complex as different states have different requirements. So I wrote some things down for them so they could see what they had to do. They said they would pay us cash so we went into town so they could get it out, however the limit on drawing cash out of the bank is $500 and we were selling the van for $3000, so in the end they said they would get back to us the following day.

We were a bit nervous about this as I had received more emails and we didn’t want to say no to the other people then the French girls pull out, so we asked them if they would give us a $100 deposit then we would sell the van to them and take down the notices. They were a bit reluctant as for all they knew we could run off with their money, but we gave them our word and we were all happy.
