16 November 2008 - Sarahs arrival!

5th November

Again I woke up early, unfortunately it was raining again today so I had to make do with reading in the van. I was feeling very excited as Sarah was arriving soon. Her friend who lives near Brisbane offered to drive her down so all we had to do was wait for a phone call. We had arranged for Sarah to stay at Emilie’s place for a few days as it would be quieter for her than a hostel. She arrived at 11am, we all had a cup of tea and a catch up, it was great to see her after 8 months of us being away.

Sarah was understandably tired after over 24hrs of travel so she had a sleep whilst we made good use of the internet access! We let her sleep for 3 hours before waking her up for some dinner, we did a light shop and decided what we would do over the next few days.

Our spot for the night was back on the spit, it was quite late when we got to bed and we were both tired after the excitement and emotion of Sarah arriving!!

6th November

Dan and I got to Sarah for breakfast, we had arranged to go to the Curumbin wildlife sanctuary, it also gave Sarah the chance to see what it is like being in the back of the van. After our discussion the night before we decided that Sarah would come with us to begin with and see how it goes, then if and of us needed space or if she fancied a different experience Sarah would then get bus and stay in a hostel.

We got to the sanctuary around 10am, we thought it would be a good idea to go there as then Sarah would have the opportunity to see some of the native Australian animals and it was a good excuse for me as I love zoo’s and anything to do with animals.

We all really enjoyed our day and was chuffed that the weather had been great, Sarah had even got a little burnt although she used a large amount of 40 SPF!!

That evening Dan, Sarah, Emelie and I went to the hard rock café for dinner, it was a lovely evening to compliment the day we had had. After a tasty dinner we went back to the house, Emilie has decided to join us in Fiji for new year so we spent some time on the internet looking to see if it was possible to get flights and if the resort still had availability.

Tonight was our last night at the spit, tomorrow we were going to head off down the coast, ready for a new adventure!!
