27th January
Sarah, Dan and I were up at 6am this morning in order to get to big white in time for a morning ski and snowboarding lesson. Dad didn’t fancy skiing again so went into Vernon with Auntie Olive. We arrived at Big White at 9amit was -15 up there so we dressed up warm and booked ourselves in for the 10am lessons.
For my lesson we started on the baby slopes then after a few runs we headed off to the green run. Before going down the baby slope I felt quite comfortable but when we started on the green it was pretty scary. The slopes were much steeper and therefore we picked up speed a lot quicker, I ended up loosing control and falling over quite badly!! My knee was defiantly bruised but I eventually got up and continued on down the slopes.
After our lessons the 3 of us met up for some lunch, then hit the slopes again, after a few runs I was getting a little more confident and managed to stay up right!! Sarah spent quite a lot of time on her backside but was improving each time we hit the slopes, I was quite grateful I was on ski’s as even though I had fallen over I would have fallen a lot more on a snow board!!
We stopped again for another cuppa and to warm up, we were about to go out again, I went to get up and my knee almost buckled beneath me due to the pain!! I decided not to back on the slopes as I didn’t want to make it any worse than it already was, so I walked round whilst the other two hit the slopes for the last hour.
After a couple of runs the others came back, they handed in their boots and boards before we set off back to Lara’s. That evening we joined Dad, auntie Olive and family for dinner at theirs, again we had a lovely evening but left fairly early as we were tired after a busy day!
