The bus journey to hoi an was 12hrs, luckily we had paid a bit extra for the luxury of a sleeper bus. These buses have 3 rows of bunks with seats that lay almost flat on two levels. you are also given a blanket and pillow to make things a little more comfortable for you!! It is worth paying the 3GBP extra as otherwise it would be quite unpleasant, some of the roads out here are pretty bad, so often you are bouncing around all over the place!
The bus dropped us off in hoi an, we were bombarded by men offering lifts on mopeds, taxis and cyclos. After being left alone for a moment (not much longer!!) to gather our thoughts, we decided to hitch a lift to a reasonably priced hotel. The first few we were taken to were either full or to expensive but the 3rd one we came to was ok $8 a night.
We headed into town to get something to eat and to find a taylor who would make dan some silk boxers. Dan found a place that was reasonably priced so we went with that. At this point i was feeling like i was about to faint as i hadn't eaten much in the last few days so we headed to find somewhere to eat.
We found a place called cafe bo bo and decided it looked ok. On further inspection of the menu we found they served poached eggs!!! The thought alone was bliss!! If you can imagine 3 wks eating rice and noodles and not a lot else. We order and were not disappointed they were the best poached eggs we've had in a long time!
Halfway through breakfast kate (who we met in nha trang) walked past the restaurant, we waved her in for a chat. We gave her the card for our hotel and arranged to met her in the eve.
The rest of our day was spent walking round hoi an. It is astonishing the amount of taylors that are there, almost every shop is a taylors bar a few souvenir shops. Hoi an is a quaint town with french architecture with a real nice feel to it.
That evening we had dinner with kate, paul and ben.
