4 July 2007 - Very Quickly... (Important)

Ok, I don´t want to worry anyone, but I was mugged earlier so I no longer have a mobile.

Don´t worry, I wasn´t hurt and I still have my passport, cash, iPod, etc etc.

Basically, I was making a call so that Josh´s parents could collect me (I was outside a supermarket in the¨"safe" part of Guate) and this guy in motorcycle helmet (which kinda registered as strange) was walking towards me. Anyway, I kinda turned my back to him, next thing I know, I have a hand on my arm, pulling my phone away from my ear.

Haha, I´m so slow at times, I was thinking ¨why is this man taking my phone, does he need to make a call?"

So my hand was still clasping my phone, just a natural reaction I guess.

Then he shouted something in Spanish and grabbed my hand tighter and it then kinda registered what was happening. And as soon as it registered then I let go of the phone.

Luckily, I had been on the phone long enough for Josh´s dad to know where I was... Though I didnt realise that, and spent a while talking to security guard trying to forumualte a plan to get back to Josh´s... but then I found his Dad so all was well.

So again, please don´t be worried about me. I´m not hurt AT ALL. I was a bit shaken at first but a couple of (very sweet) cups of coffee settled my nerves.

Let´s all just be thankful

-that it happened now, rather than a few days ago, as I´ve needed it recently to travel around to peoples´ houses

-that it was only my phone rather than my cash or passport that was taken

-that there was no violence involved

Ok, so also the phone number you have for me is now pretty useless. (if you had called it a few hours ago you could have shouted abuse at some petty Guate thief, which would have been fun.)

Ok, its been a long day. Time for bed.

Oh, wait, I went to Antigua today. (before the mugging)

It was so beautiful. Quite..ok very touristy, but then that´s by Guatemalan standards so that´s probably not touristy as most people know it. Though who knows why there is a lack of tourists in

Guatemala... *cough* high crime rate *cough*

So yes, Antigua was lovely, if a bit soggy at times. And i managed to read The Picture of Dorian Gray in one day. For about the 15th time.

Right that really is enought.
