16th April
We got on a small boat at 8am to be taken back to the mainland. Once there we got a mini bus to the boarder which was only 20 Min's away. We got stamped out of Laos and then stamped into Cambodia. We were told we had to wait for 20Min's for the driver.
We waited and waited and waited some more!! After 1 1/2hrs we asked what was going on. Due to the new year the driver was too drunk to drive so we were now waiting for a new driver!! So after another hr or so we were ready to leave....only the bus wouldn't start!!!!
About 10 or so men managed to push start the bus so we were on our way!!! We arrived in stung tren about an 1hr later, we were due to change buses on the other side of the river. Surprise surprise we had missed the bus! We never seem to get much luck on these bus journeys!! We crossed the river by foot and boat, on the other side we were informed that we were stuck there for the night and would be able to get a bus the following morning. Dan and i were pretty annoyed, not only would this mean 2 day wasted on travel instead of one but we only had $50 between us left and we weren't sure if we would be forced to buy some more bus tickets!!
Luckily we found a cheap room for $5 so that helped us to relax a bit. That evening we sat outside our guest house with a dutch couple, Anna and lee and a German couple who had been on our bus.
To our suprise a scorpion walked across the pavement under a plant pot, we were all a bit cautious where we put our feet after that!!!
