I been meaning to share my experience in Cuba. To me, the trip was a test to myself. I have always wanted 2 just go somewhere without planning it. I figured,if i can backpack Cuba, i pretty much can backpack anywhere in the world.
The trip started by me getting in a plane in Toronto, and taking a 3.5hr flight to CUba. I was relaxed but nervous at the same time, I had no place to stay or i did not know anywhere there.
I arrived to the airport in Holguin, Cuba, and the first thing that welcomed me was this Huge sign that said " communist or death" wow, then and there i knew i was in Cuba. Got my stuff and stepd out of the airport. I speak fluent spanish, (grew up in Mexico) so i felt that was an advantage in getting around. I got a cab driver and i told him my situation, i had no place to stay and did not have any idea where to go. He asked me the reason for me to come to cuba and i honestly told him that my goal is to learn as much about the culture and get the ideas u get from TV out of my head. He was the coolest guy ever, gave me a tour of the city, got me a place to stay at a hostel and did not even charge for the cab ride. He seemed so interested that a young person like me had so much interest in their country and culture " i guess".
i went to the town, changed money and just chilled.
The next day i wanted to go to the beach.
