21 May 2008 - more days of nothing......

17th and 18 May

Both these days we just wondered around bangkok and arranged our bus to kanchanaburi (better know for the bridge over the river kwai).

Thailand seems to take great pride in their king as there are pictures of him all over the place!! In some places they have 6 or 7 all lined up next to each other on the street or in the middle of the road or round a bout!! We've got some pics so i will try to get them on at some point. The computers are very slow where we are at the moment and i don't have the patients!!

Like the other countries in south east Asia some of the smells are putrid!! Not just a waft but a real stink that makes you wretch!! Although Thailand is a lot cleaner than Cambodia and Vietnam there is no escaping the rotten smell as you walk down the street. We have also seen huge rats in bangkok...they arnt shy either they happily scuttle along side you for a good few meters!!

Another creature we spotted that i forgot to mention was a monitor lizard in one of the canals in bangkok, it was pretty big too, i would say at least 2-3ft. It was on the middle of our con boat trip and probably the only redeeming feature of it!!
