2nd November
I woke this morning to the sound of rain, not a great start!! I read for a couple of hours before waking Dan, I was in need of a cup of tea and some muesli! The rain seemed to die off so we saw a few more of the lookouts , although the “best” one only had cloud when we got to the viewing platform but we still took a picture anyway!!
Come lunch we stopped for a tea in a quant café by the cannon lookout, by the time we came out it was raining again. We drove to the next sightseeing stop and eat our lunch hoping that the rain would pass, an hour later and still no improvement. We were pretty frustrated as we couldn’t afford to get wet as we have no place to dry off so all we could do was sit in the van and wait.
Plan B was decided by 3pm, so off we drove back to Aquarius for an afternoon/evening of film watching!! Although we could have stayed in our old beds we decided to stick to the van and stayed in the car park for the night.
3rd November
At 6.30am we drove ourselves down to the spit, some parklands and a car park on the end of a peninsular surrounded by waterway and the ocean. We spent almost of the morning inside the van as it was still raining, we had planned to have dinner with Emilie a Swedish girl we had made good friends with since being in surfers, so we went to her house just after lunch and spent the rest of the evening there with her.
That night we drove back down to the spit as it was a free place to park up without the worry of having complaints from anyone as it was a popular place with other travellers.
4th November
I awoke early this morning sweating as the sun was heating the van up at a phenomenal rate! We spent most of the morning enjoying the sun whilst reading in our camping chairs. At 11am we set of up to Brisbane to pay a last visit to Becky, her and her husband Dave had kindly let us some maps so we were returning them before heading south.
We spent a couple of hours there before coming back to towards Southport and spending another night at the spit, by the time we got back it had started to rain again.
