19 August 2008 - Still in cairns waiting..will we ever leave!!

6th August

We didn’t have cleaning this morning so we would have to start paying for our room, as luck would have it the new cleaner couldn’t start so we would clean in the morning to pay for the room!

Dan, colm and I headed into town after breakfast to get a few chores done. We left Colm in the internet cafe whilst Dan and I went to the post office to see if my bank card had arrived. My card was there but I was still waiting for the pin number, on the way back to meet colm we saw a jewelers shop. We ended up chatting to the owner who makes the jewelry for his clients, out of interest we inquired about the style of ring we wanted for our engagement, we were impressed with what he told us and left the shop seriously contemplating getting my ring made by him!

The rest of the day was spent running and planning our forthcoming trip.

7th August

Unfortunately we had to pay for our room for tonight, but hey at least we had saved some money the week before! Dan and I went back into town first thing and ordered my ring, Shayne the jeweler told us it would take around 5-7 days so we could pick it up after we had been to cape tribulation a town 2150km north of cairns. At 1pm we went to pick the van up but it had to have work done on it so we will be picking it up tomorrow afternoon.

The afternoon we got some more chores done and got a few provisions for the following day as we were hoping to head off in the afternoon if the van is ready.
