It has been a month since the last entry and it has flown by and we have crammed so much in!
For the past month we haven't had time to do anything really, we have been cramming in house hunting, car hunting and furniture hunting in after work and at the weekends...
The hard work has paid off though and we have a lovely little unit that we are renting in Frankston - which is the last suburb south of Melbourne for $220 per week, we have managed to get our hands on some furniture and have THE most mongable sofa. Foxtel IQ has been installed (sky plus equivalent) and we are or rather Lee is recording as much football as he can! We are nearly out of memory space!!! We have a second (or rather only) car and all this happened in about three days of each other!
Marilyn, Karl and Carla are with us at the moment which is brilliant to have them with us and very comforting, but gonna be sad when they all go... They have spoilt us and we had a mini Christmas yesterday. While Lee and i were working, they went shopping and got us loads of bits - hoover, dvd player, glasses, (pink) iron, ironing board, blender, shoe rack (so lee puts them somewhere other than just by the front door tripping everyone up!)...
But we have had some bad news... or rather bad luck!
Picture the scene if you will...
.... Lee and i were in on the Friday night just gone, we are having a few drinks (well a bottle of brandy but hey), Chinese and listening to music - celebrating what we have achieved in such a short time, talking about what we wanted to do next etc etc.. just pretty much proud of ourselves... We go off to bed about 2am and look forward to our lie in, the first in about 4 weeks!
We are woken with a start at 4am by someone banging on the door - i am panicking and sending Lee to the front door... It is the police!? We are asked if we own a ford falcon with NSW plates "great we think, the thing has been stolen"... We are then advised that the fire service has just put a fire out in it!?????? Eh, what, can you please say that again.... Did we not hear anything - no... We go up to it and it had been completely incinerated... the whole of the dash has melted and George is well and truly dead. Stinks to high heaven and just sitting there smoldering.
The police advise us that it is a possible electrical fire, or vandals. Later it was confirmed to be an electrical fault.
We cant believe that we slept through the whole thing, our house is meters from where it happened and we didn't even hear the fire service turn up! We are thankful it happened where it did, it could have been a lot worse if it happened at Phil and Jill's or if it had been parked in the garage which is just inthinkable...
So, we are now back to one car! It was a sad day when it was towed away and we got $50 for the parts when we were going to sell it for $2000 - to say Lee was gutted is an understatement.
But onwards and upwards eh! I have just been offered a six month contract where i am temping with a company called Hermitage Homes - the build spec homes - working in the accounts department but also getting the HR up and running for them. It is a really good opportunity for me as i think that they will also put me through my HR Diploma if things go well.
We are heading off to Portsea with everyone tomorrow to go and swim with the dolphins (Marilyn will stay on the boat) and to the city this weekend and then have a big bbq/house warming party on the Monday - well i say big, we only really know two people to invite and that is Phil and Jill! haha.
Lee still has no apprenticeship but starts with Phil next week just laboring on sites so hopefully he will meet some electricians that way and more importantly GET OUT OF THE FACTORY!!! :-D.
So, i think that is it from us so far... Missing everyone and wish you all a brilliant chocolate eating easter. We now have Internet which was connected last night so we can start calling everyone again! But we have a house number too so let me know if you want it.
Lots of love and kisses, Kate and Lee xxxxxxx
