ok guys, i know this is extremely late as iv been home 3 weeks already but just thought i would fill you guys in with what happened in south africa!! firstly we landed in the airport and ive never been so scared in my life! it was madness people pushing into us, taxi drivers trying to grab us constantly!! MADNESS!!
when we arrived at the lion park we were shown where we would be staying for the two weeks. we were staying in tents!! not little tenst though, huge things with electricity and everything!! unfortunatly no heaters though so it got pretty cold at night!! the next morning we woke at 6.00am!!! argh and were shown what to do. we had to clean the cub cages at first then feed them and then tidy around the park! there wasnt any cubs in the cages at first but then suddenly out of no where the trainers appeared with them!! it was amazing and i was so excited the first time i saw them!! they were so hyper and jumper up at us! it was fantastic!
feeding them was a bit of a problem, they had large metal bowls, one each, but if you looked away for one second they would steal the other lions food!! we had to wrestle the meat of them!! :)
we then got introduced to the giraffes, their names were perdy and gambit!! they we crazy!! they obviously loved human interaction because they wouldnt leave us along for a second! following us everywhere and stealing our food!! on the 3rd day they broke into our campsite!! we woke up the next mornign with this giraffe head poking through the tent door!! crazy!
we also helped out in the nursery which was my favourite part!! in there was the very new new borns! they were absolutly tiny!! but they had the loudest scream ive ever heard!! we got to feed them from bottles and then play with them for the rest of the day! was amazing!!
the lion park also had zebras, giraffes, hyenas, cheetahs, wilderbeast, antalope!! and most of them escaped while we were there! but chasing after them was always fun!!
on our last day we got a suprise! we actually got the walk a cheetah!! on a lead and everything!! it was fantastic and i never expected it! i never thought i would get that close to an anaimal that could kill me!!!!
after we said bye to all the little cubs and left the lion park we moved onto our next location. we were going to spend the next two days in a little villa! it was lovely, even had a jacuzzi!!! we went on a safari one day too which was great! we only saw 2 of the big five but that was still great! we saw elephants and rhinos, one rhino even charged at our car so we made a speedy escape!!
overall south africa was great, lovely people, lovely scenery and sooooo cheap!! (55p a litre for petrol!!)
overall the whole travelling experience has been fantastic! i cant believe im home!! i miss it so much!! but dont worry the second travel journel will be very soon!!
