El Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, I think this was called.
» A selection of member photos for El Salvador
A performance of a trational Bolivian dance at the Museo de Arte de El Salvador. Apparently this was used during human sacrifice when the person was placed inside. Alternatively, it could be some kind of early Dalek prototype. Photo taken from Parque Libertad, with statue celebrating independence in the foreground, Cathedral in the background. Inside a modern church in San Salvador called El Rosario where the sunlight shines through small pieces of stained glass set into the curved wall to beautiful effect. El Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, I think this was called.
This caused quite a stir back when it was first made (50's I think), and has since been taken to symbolise freedom and independence. Dance routine performed by proto Ricki Martins in the plaza next to the Cathedral in San Salvador. View from the Puerta Del Diablo in one of the rare moments when the cloud cleared for a second. Got thoroughly drenched shortly after I took this... An ancient indigenous relic, eerily reminiscent of some modern day cartoon icons. Amazingly, the entire surface of this church is made of sheet metal!
