Australian Visas Explained - Who
needs a Visa?
Unless you are the holder of an Australian or New Zealand
passport, all travellers of any age wishing to enter Australia
will require a valid visa that covers the duration of their
stay. Without a valid visa, an individual will not be permitted
to enter Australia until one has been obtained.
Australian Tourist Visas
Of the many types of visa available to travellers wishing
to enter Australia, the most common are the short term holiday
visas which permit entry into the country for up to twelve
months. These visa types are:
1) Electronic Travel Authority (ETA).
An electronic travel authority (ETA) is a short stay visa
that can be used for the purpose of tourism or business (e.g.
attending a conference, business meeting or business negotiations).
You CANT work in Australia with this type of Visa. An electronic
travel authority (ETA) is a quick way of gaining Authority
to travel to Australia
To apply for an ETA you will need to hold one of the following
passports:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland,
France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein,
Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway,
Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden,
Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City,
Hong Kong SAR

2) Australian Working Holiday Visa (WHV)
An Australian Working Holiday Visa will allow you to spend
twelve months working and travelling around Australia, now
with the option of extending your working holiday visa additional
twelve months whilst travelling. Your Australian working holiday
visa enables you to work and travel in Australia for twelve
months from the day you enter.
To apply for the Australian working holiday visa you must
be over 18 and under 31 years of age, have no dependant children
and have one of the following passports:
UK, Republic of Ireland, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland,
France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Malta, Netherlands,
Norway, Republic of Korea, Sweden.
Big 5 Requirements for a Working Holiday Visa (please read
prior to application)
1) You need to be aged between 18 - 31
2) You cannot have any dependant children
3) If you have had a Working Holiday Visa before you must
be able to provide
evidence of this.
4) If you intend to work in the fields of nursing/teaching
you will require a medical.
5) If you have any pending, served or removed convictions
you will need to provide a copy of all convictions. No visas
will be granted if there are any drug convictions of any type.
If none of these questions are a problem you should not have
any issues receiving a WHV.
